Sean Coleman on the Power of Representation

“I learned never to dim my light, no matter where I go. Show up and shine. My leadership is important because representation matters.” Sean Coleman is the first African-American of Transgender Experience to operate an LGBTQ Center in New York City. Destination Tomorrow in the South Bronx serves people of all ages, with a focus on 13 to 24-year-olds and the trans community. Coleman’s dream is to provide a one-stop-shop connecting LGBTQ people in the Bronx to critical support services, fellowship, and community. Since launching Destination Tomorrow in 2009 -- with no outside funding -- Sean has committed himself to building a strong Queer community in the Bronx.
